BC DAY
It’s a day to celebrate our province and the people who live here. LLBC celebrates the opportunity to play our sport in such a wonderful setting. And what a great group to enjoy the day playing and socializing with. Our club (47 years since being incorporated in 1979) is almost as old as the BC Day holiday which came into being in 1974.
Now think of the wizardry of our own John Fuller, who conceives all the special games we play on the greens on BC Day. Imagine the skill building games: 1/ The Clock, where the players on each team have to roll their bowls within the face of the clock divided into quadrants of 12 to 3; 3 to 6; 6 to 9, and 9 to12; 2/ The Yardstick, where the bowls of each team count only if they bowls are within the yardstick measure; 3/ The River, formed by two strings parallel to each other, all bowls that end inside the two strings are counted, any bowls behind or before the strings are not counted. But none count until the jack, just outside the river, is pushed into the river; 4/ Spider – where all interested players form a circle around the whole perimeter of the green and roll their bowls towards the center hoping to be the closest to the invisible target. Mayhem ensues as the bowls knock each other off their intended course.
Elaine organized a splendid feast for our lunch. Others helped out with preparing and cleaning up. It’s great tradition of fun and camaraderie.

RibFest
For three days during the event, LLBC participated in this community event putting in a booth to showcase a bit of lawn bowling in the SportZone. Families, especially children are drawn to the excitement of rolling the lawn bowls on a mat. Their parents, grandparents take videos of their kids trying them out and having fun. The adults who pass by take some of the flyers to know more about the real game played on the greens and ask more details.
The music of the live bands, the food around very gastronomically inviting, the many participating organizations all speak of the community warmth and unity we stand for. It has been well supported with large crowds each day.
